Job Summary
Oversees enterprise-wide compensation initiatives that support attraction, retention, workforce planning and organizational design strategies. Effectively manages the development and administration of all compensation practices, programs, and projects to include base and executive compensation, annual compensation planning, market reviews, job evaluation, analysis and pricing, and ad hoc programs as needed. Directs, supervise, coach and develops Compensation team members. Responsible for managing relationships with external and internal partners.
Essential Responsibilities
Compensation Strategy and Consultation
Assesses effectiveness of existing pay, bonus and other incentive strategies. Explores opportunities to drive motivation and performance with existing and new pay plan designs.
Continually evaluates internal and external trends, conducts market research and recommends strategy shifts and new programs when warranted to ensure competitive compensation programs.
Manages and actively participates in the effective planning and execution of compensation projects.
Creates tactical plans and communication strategies which allows leadership to support change management which creates a positive employee experience. Designs and administers role-based compensation training.
Collaboratively partners with cross-functional partners in HR and across the organization, to assess organizational needs and design the optimal talent and organizational structure needed to deliver outcomes.
Responsible for the administrative aspects of the compensation program governance and oversight administration of several program components including job architecture, job leveling, pay practices, and rewards and career framework.
Oversees selection, participation and analysis of salary surveys and other external instruments to aid in strategic decision making. Gathers benchmarking information to assist in compensation program design.
Leadership
Provides operational leadership and guidance to Compensation team to ensure consistency and alignment of pay practices and delivery of service that ensure positive employee and manager experiences.
Directs, supervises, coaches and develops Compensation team members.
Leads team in identifying best practices for standardization and efficiencies in compensation administration.
Creates a thriving work environment where employees are productive and engaged to do their best work.
Process Execution
Collaborate with HR Technology to consistently assess, review and modify business processes, and implement system enhancements to streamline operational and annual programming processes.
Ensures that programs are compliant with KS policy, state and federal laws and regulations and that all required reporting is completed in a timely manner including notification to employees.
Leads the development, administration and maintenance of Compensation related policies, procedures and practices.
Presents relevant data, reports and analytics to ensure effective budget forecasting for compensation initiatives.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and related experience.
Minimum of 1 year of management or lead experience.
Experience as a team or project lead, exhibiting the ability to manage competing priorities.
Demonstrates an understanding of employment and labor laws and regulations related to compensation and job design.
Able to think critically and displays understanding of broader business implications and decisions.
Demonstrates an ability to consult with clients on workforce planning and organizational design strategies.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and processes.
Ability to identify and resolve systematic issues that impact compensation and/or overall HR services.
Ability to influence clients and gain their confidence, trust and respect.
Strong written and oral communication skills for preparing comprehensive documents, drafting policies and processes, presentations, coaching and facilitation.
Experience in guiding and consulting with individuals, managers, and senior leaders.
Strong analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Currently recognized as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) by WorldatWork.
Program management experience.
Experience working in an educational setting or work environment with large numbers of temporary and/or part-time employees.
Knowledge of and experience with employers subject to provisions of a collective bargaining agreement.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.

Based on the compensation range provided below, salaries are commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of work year, and other organizational needs.
