Currently hiring for a 1st Shift Shipping Clerk.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prints and matches pack lists, invoices, and shipping labels for small orders. Folds orders into wrap packaging, labels and staples packages, and scans into hampers.
- Diverts totes full of products into stacking stations, repacks, researches and corrects problem orders, packs oversized items, and handles orders that cannot be stacked.
- Matches packing lists to stacked orders and feeds orders into shrink-wrap machine.
- Constructs cartons around shrink-wrapped stacks, attaches shipping labels, and feeds cartons into taping machine.
- Marks, labels, and diverts cartons to appropriate conveyers according to carrier, destination, and customer requirements. Matches and inserts invoices and return permissions as required.
- Stacks cartons from conveyer onto pallets according to carrier.
- Scan cartons to appropriate trailers, opens and closes trailers, completes freight bills, wraps and marks pallets, researches and corrects missing or partial orders, and ensures timely departures.
- Meters, palletizes, scans, wraps, loads, and completes documentation for all shipments to Canada. Delivers shipments to local customers.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles and occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Required Skills & Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent and three to twelve months experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information to customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs; and occasionally sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and lift/move up to 100 lbs. Specific vision requirements include peripheral vision and depth perception.
