Playa Bowls NYC is hiring General Managers for our 14 NYC locations!
Who We Are: Playa Bowls is New Jersey’s Original Acai ShopTM, and our mission is to bring superfruit bowls to the masses using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients while providing a fantastic in-store brand experience. What began as a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has flourished into over 100 stores, thousands of employees, and a mission to lead communities in healthy, sustainable living.
Who You Are: a motivated and goal-oriented general manager to oversee our organization's business operations, creates and implements effective strategies and programs, and manages budget resources.
Responsibilities include developing policies, coordinating business activities, motivating staff, controlling operational costs, ensuring top-notch customer service, streamlining administration processes, engaging with vendors, recruiting and training employees, identifying business opportunities, and monitoring financial activities. Your leadership skills and entrepreneurial mindset will help our organization maintain client relationships, generate new business, boost staff productivity, enhance service quality, ensure sustainability, and achieve business objectives.
The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent communication skills, extensive knowledge of business functions, strong budgeting and financial skills, and outstanding leadership abilities. The successful general manager should oversee all business activities, promote staff development, increase efficiency, have excellent TIME-MANAGMENT, drive sales and revenue, foster client relationships, build the organization's reputation, and achieve growth objectives. All our managers work alongside their team in both daily operations and maintenance of the store. This is a hands-on management position
What We’re Looking For:
- *** A GM who is able to work every weekend, including BOTH day and night shifts, ALL holidays, various locations, and be able to commit to 50+ hours weekly- NO EXCEPTIONS***
- Previous restaurant/hospitality experience as a supervisor or manager (required)
- Previous CATERING experience- A MUST
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, squatting, climbing up and down ladders and stairs, and lifting products over 50 pounds. Additionally, must be able to use your arm/wrist/shoulder to scoop and dig frozen products and prepare all food items
- Training lower-level supervisors and crew members
- Improve revenue
- Good knowledge of different business functions
- Knowledge of top allergens, superfoods and their known benefits, various dietary lifestyles such as keto, paleo, gluten-free, kosher, etc

- Strong leadership qualities - comfortable leading, delegating, and making corrections to employees' job performance in relation to recipe execution, daily operations, and following DOH and company standards

- Evaluating performance and productivity: comfortable in conducting performance evaluations, including PIPs, and taking disciplinary actions whenever nessacerrary
- Ability to deliver a great guest experience and be able to help problem solve any customer grievance or complaints to ensure the best experience
- Ability to understand and articulate to customers and staff Playa Bowls’ Food and Beverages
- Knowledge and experience of cash handling policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Food Safety and health department matters (required)
- NYC Food Handler’s Certificate (a must)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business, including, days/nights, every weekend, and holidays
- Must be comfortable working in small spaces with your teammates
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent (required) Associate orBachelors'ss degree (preferred)

What You’ll Do:
● Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the restaurant - must keep establishment DOH ready at all times
● Manage time effectively and meet all job responsibilities
● Maintain a positive work environment for guests and staff
● Check products to ensure consistency, palatability, and flavor conformity
● Perform food preparation or service tasks
● Perform mock DOH inspections to ensure DOH compliance and preparedness
● Use the point-of-sale cash register system (currently Clover)
● Addressing any questions or comments that customers may have, including different superfood ingredients, kosher-certified ingredients, and allergens
● Take customer orders and assemble the orders in accordance with Playa Bowls' recipes
● Replenish supplies and condiments and maintain inventory
● Place orders and efficiently manage inventory/inventory management
● Should be available to Open and Close with full availability, including both day and night shifts, weekends, and ALL holidays
● Training low-level managers and staff: this includes training new hires and training the team on any new or seasonal recipes, and ongoing training as needed to ensure the quality of service
● Must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, reaching, pulling, squatting, climbing up and down ladders and stairs, and lifting products over 50 pounds. Additionally, must be able to use your arm/wrist/shoulder to scoop and dig frozen products and prepare all food items
●Must be comfortable working in small spaces with your teammates
●Must know how to use the NYC metro systems and plan for any foreseeable delays and unforeseeable delays - Chronic tardiness or absences will not be tolerated!
