At The Institution of Dance Arts, we aim to create an inclusive space that allows students to make mistakes, challenge themselves, and have fun while learning the art of dance. We are currently looking for a hip-hop instructor of like mind to teach one to two days a week during the 2024-2025 school year. Positivity, punctuality, commitment, reliability, and a history of teaching dance are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and conduct engaging dance classes for students of varying skill levels and ages (child AND adult) using age appropriate movement and music.
- Choreograph and teach themed pieces for our end of session shows in Jan and May
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support students at rehearsals and performances and work with other instructors, staff, and volunteers to help things run smoothly.
- Maintain open, honest, and prompt communication with Ida and staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with students in a dance or performing arts setting
- Expertise in Hip-Hop dance styles and instruction
- Knowledge of other dance styles, such as acrobatics, ballet, contemporary, jazz, and/or modern is a bonus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive classroom management skills
- Passion for working with children and promoting their artistic development
