Scope:
The Senior Fabricator installs industrial equipment, operates a variety of machine tools and hand tools to produce new machines and parts for existing industrial equipment. May also fabricate and modify parts to make, repair or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of welding, mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, machining procedures, pneumatics, hydraulics, and CNC equipment. This role is for Heartland’s Reliable Asset Management shop (R.A.M. Team).
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

Operate welders, lathes, saws, milling machines, grinders, drill press, brake shear, piranha press, CNC plasma cutter and other shop equipment.

Proper use of all precision measuring devices, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and others as required.

Maintains industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Install large industrial equipment. Rigging experience is a plus!

Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.

Selects the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.

Machines parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

Aid in troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair of equipment in the entire plant.

Repair and overhaul of all appropriate equipment in the entire plant.

Training plant personnel on new shop equipment as required.

Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times.

Conducts him/herself to the highest professional standards of quality and craftsmanship.

All other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications

5-7 years of fab shop experience in fab shop facility utilizing machine tools and welding equipment; Food Manufacture experience is a plus!

Ability to design and fabricate parts based off working drawings – ability to use mechanical measuring instruments with extreme precision and accuracy.

Experience with fabricating parts within OEM specifications, familiarity with equipment typically found in a manufacturing setting (including pumps, valves, and gear boxes).

Computer skills with CAD a plus.

Must be able to work in high elevation. Can not be afraid of heights.

Must be able to work in harsh environments. Cold, hot, dusty, windy, load confined spaces, etc.

Must have ability to effectively communicate in English both written and verbally.

Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills.

Must have strong critical thinking and technical troubleshooting abilities.
