Position Summary:
The role of the IT Support Intern part-time is to provide software, hardware, and network problem resolution to all Quantum’s computer end users. Perform general workstation configuration, maintenance, relocation, question/problem diagnosis and clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly professional manner. This role follows documented procedures to ensure efficient service. The IT Support Intern works closely with the Lead IT Support Technician.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The IT Support Technician serves as a liaison between the IT department and end users, resolving all level I and II end-user problems from Quantum’s support queue. Request assistance from the Lead IT Support or escalate requests to the Systems Administrator Team.
Key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature:
- Responding to IT support requests promptly
- Performing general workstation configuration, maintenance, relocation, and troubleshooting
- Repairing or replacing faulty components of a computer/network system
- Network troubleshooting.
- Assisting in maintaining accurate hardware and license inventory
- Performing custom application installations, configurations, and upgrades
- Configuring printing and troubleshooting printing problems
- Updating document procedures for efficient service
- Following regulatory compliance policies established by Quantum
- Performing other duties as required
Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level degree in Computer Science or Information Technology related major
- Minimum of one years of college or trade school education in a computer related field
- Knowledge of computer systems and software
- Knowledge of network and system security
- Familiarity with hardware and software installation
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
