Middle School Teacher (Language Arts & Social Studies):
Genesis School, Inc. located at 3800 East 44th Street KCMO 64130 has an available Middle School 7-8 grade ELA teaching position for the 2024-2025 school year. Essential Performance Responsibilities:
- Instruct and motivate students in all course study
- Collaborate and communicate with staff to meet the educational needs of students
- Assign lessons and correct homework
- Administer tests to evaluate student progress, record results, and inform parents of progress
- Maintain discipline in the classroom
- Maintain a classroom that is conducive to learning, safe, and stimulating
- Communicate with parents/guardians and schedule periodic meetings to discuss student progress and/or problems
- Work with Special Education teacher to ensure appropriate modifications are being implemented in the classroom
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops
- Prepare classroom instructions to promote students’ success on state assessment exams
- Observes, enforces and is directed by the policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the school district
Additional Duties: Assists with additional duties as assigned by principal
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of English Language Arts teaching methods and educational pedagogy
- Ability to maintain a classroom of approximately 20 students rotating throughout the day
- Ability and patience to work interactively with students
- Skill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standards
- Excellent skills in verbal and written communication
- Ability to understand the individual needs of each student
Job Requirements
1.Bachelor’s degree is required;
2. Two years teaching experience in an urban public school or charter school setting preferred.
3. Valid State Certification. Belief in and alignment with Genesis School’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
