Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment, utilizing their skills and expertise to ensure the health and well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care in labor and delivery, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients and develop individualized plans of care.
- Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on labor and delivery procedures, as well as postpartum care and breastfeeding techniques.
- Participate in discharge planning, ensuring that patients receive the necessary resources and support upon leaving the hospital.
- Utilize electronic medical records (EMRs) such as Epic to document patient care and update medical records.
- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care, adhering to hospital policies and standards of care.
Experience:
- A current RN license in the state of practice.
- At least 3 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing, preferably in a teaching hospital or Level II Trauma Center.
- Strong knowledge of obstetric and gynecologic procedures, as well as the care of high-risk patients.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Experience with discharge planning and patient education.
- Familiarity with Epic EMR systems and other electronic medical records.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Experience with DME (durable medical equipment) and workers compensation law is an asset.
