We are looking for a Junior Accountant for one of our clients. The firm has more than 20 years of experience in the corporate world, they are a certified public accounting (CPA) firm, that has developed its services to provide its clients with smart solutions designed to guide and assist with their local and international financial operations and business activities while complementing their “in-house” staff. They provide accounting, tax, and business consulting services to local (US) and international companies. The firm was founded by a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and former international accounting & tax manager for a global corporation with more than 7000 employees and operations in several locations, including USA, Mexico, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Spain & Venezuela.
We are seeking an experienced junior accountant with a comprehensive skill set to manage a broad portfolio of clients from diverse economic sectors, with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will be proactive, bring innovative ideas, excel in preparing detailed reports, and possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills. This role requires a well-rounded accountant who will oversee the entire accounting cycle, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all financial processes.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Manage cross-functional customers teams to understand business transactions and ensure that transactional activities are complete and coded accurately.
- Entering/reviewing daily transactions for multiple companies including A/P, A/R, payroll, bank reconciliations, inter-company, account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis.
- Prepare journal entries and account analysis, tracing errors, researching, and correcting account discrepancies
- Prepare monthly depreciation/amortization entries.
- Maintain and comply with the monthly activities checklist, customer’s Open Items control, and reporting calendar.
- Review divisional financials with the Accounting Manager, preparing and submitting necessary adjustments or accruals within appropriate closing cycles.
- Perform month-end closing activities, maintain the general ledger, and recording of journal entries to support auditable, accurate financial statements in a deadline-driven environment.
- Assist with the preparation of interim financial statements for shareholders and financial partners in line with monthly and quarterly closing schedules.
- Works directly with senior management for preparation of new project cost reports, budgets, and annual reports for tax filings.
- Regularly monitors properties through review of capital expenditures and maintenance reports for clients with investments in real estate.
- Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the General Ledger in various areas.
- Fixed asset administration and tracks Capex spending
- Provide support in the preparation of personal business property tax returns.
- Prepare Texas Sales & Use Tax returns.
- Implement QuickBooks Online for new customers
- Promote teamwork and quality of service through daily communication and coordination with the various departments.
- Consistently look to implement efficiencies in processes and procedures by making recommendations to the Accounting Manager.
- Monitor that client’s records and documentation support for all transactions are in an orderly and auditable manner.
- Ensures processes are consistent and in line with established controls
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience as an accountant.
- Previous experience in accounting firms, preferably.
- Strong aptitude for numbers, ability to analyze a large volume of data, and present insights concisely for the audience.
- Ability to manage sensitive data with maturity and professionalism.
- Self-starter, driven and motivated to work independently with little oversight
- Sense of urgency and an ability to deal with changes in priorities.
- The highest degree of personal integrity, judgment, and professional ethics
- Tech savvy and able to enhance the use of multiple applications synchronized to QuickBooks Online.
- High sense of commitment, responsibility, confidentiality, strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently and as part of the team proactively.
- Ability to multi-task in a team atmosphere, adaptable, organized, skilled at prioritizing and working in a fast-paced environment
- The high degree of accuracy and sharp attention to detail, organized and methodical, and the ability to plan to work appropriately to meet required deadlines and desire to continuously look for process improvements.
- Ability to look at data and ask questions when the data does not make sense.
