Applies and facilitates the educational process, using principles of education and adult learning in all educational activities. Demonstrates and facilitates excellence in nursing practice through coaching, education and mentoring of nursing staff and leading practice change initiatives based on evidence and data analysis. Under direction, implements, monitors, evaluates, and participates in the development of nursing educational programs, including nursing orientation programs, and other developmental activities in an assigned health care setting. Conducts training and ongoing competency assessment to align nursing educational opportunities with health care setting goals, operational standards, and educational priorities. In addition to meeting the qualification requirements of Nurse Educator Level I, must be assigned to a highly specialized area (e.g., critical care, emergency services, perioperative care) or to a group of specialty areas.
