Working as a Regional Driver is rewarding and engaging. You are responsible for coming to work as a friendly associate ensuring each customer receives amazing service following the Van Marcke standards. Serving our stores in a safe and timely manner.
What you’ll do
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Transport finished goods and raw materials over land to and from manufacturing plants or retail and distribution centers.
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues and perform preventative maintenance.
- Follow schedule provided for daily deliveries.
- Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving and retain fuel/toll receipts.
- Input “macros” into our automated system for each stage of the loading and unloading process.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions.
- Report defects, accidents, or violations.
- Assist “Home base” store with stock put away, store cleaning, order writing prior to starting your day or when deliveries for the day are complete.
- Any other duties as directed by the regional manager, or scheduling coordinator or upper management.
What you’ll need
- Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred.
- Valid driving license.
- Proven work experience as a truck driver.
- Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and software (GPS, AVL units, CB etc.).
- Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations.
- No recent moving or driving violations.
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions etc.).
- Previous experience in a retail environment either in sales or merchandising roles is a plus.
