Office and Billing Coordinator - Aurora, Illinois

Essential Receptionist Functions:
· Greet arriving patients, check patients in, notify MA staff, ensure proper forms are completed.
· Answer phones and schedule patient appointments.
· Generate Thank You cards and letters for patients.
· Perform End of Day responsibilities.
Position Requirements:
· Time management skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Self-starter with strong organizational skills.
· Ability to self-educate and learn on the job.
· Knowledgeable about all procedures, billing, and insurance process.
· Warm and confident demeanor that will immediately attract new and current patients, promoting lasting relationships with the practice.
Office Coordinator
· Oversees general office operations and provides updates to administrative support team
· Coordinates appointments and schedules and manages staff calendars
· Manages filing systems, IT, and office supplies ordering and inventory
· Oversees staff interactions and responds to their queries on office management issues
· Oversees guest experience, sort mail, and answers and direct phone calls
Billing
· Perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers on time
· Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures
· Check eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures
· Review patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtain any missing information
· Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing
· Follow up on unpaid claims within a standard billing cycle timeframe
· Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with contract discount
· Call insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments, if necessary
· Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
· Review accounts for insurance or patient follow-up
· Research and appeal denied claims
· Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries on assigned accounts
· Set up patient payment plans and work collection accounts
· Update billing software with rate changes
· Update cash spreadsheets, and run collection report
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- EMR experience
- At least 2 years of work experience
