The Azure Cloud Native Compute organization is tasked with creating services and tools to make customers successful building, deploying, and managing cloud native applications on Azure. We are responsible for core offerings like Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Container Registry, as well as leadership in cloud native open source projects like Kubernetes.
As a Senior Product Manager on the Cloud Native Ecosystem team, you will work with internal teams, partners, and the open source community to facilitate upstream contributions to cloud native projects, thereby enabling Azure to deliver industry-leading services for customers. This role is flexible as to US-based location and allows you to work from home or an office as desired.

Guide, influence, and represent our contributions to open source security projects by defining and prioritizing upstream open source security strategy and contributions. You will perform market or user research with the user research team, conduct competitive analyses, and examine market and industry trends and industry-specific requirements or regulations. You will share insights with internal teams and ensure cross-team alignment.
Anticipate unknown or unmet end user needs in cooperation with internal teams, partners, and the open source security community. You’ll then clarify any patterns of root problems and define solutions as options for those needs.

Influence others to drive business impact across the organization and track success criteria for multiple open source security efforts across Microsoft. You’ll engage partners such as the open source programs office to leverage and increase Microsoft’s open source involvement in the cloud native ecosystem.

Collaborate with first party (1P) teams to measure and report on the business impact of open source security contributions on our first party (1P) and third party (3P) stakeholders across all cloud native projects. You will help distill the vision and strategy into a product roadmap. You will create user stories and assist in building epics to convey the big picture.

Identify data-informed, short-term, and long-term investment opportunities, evaluate tradeoffs, and prioritize investments in consultation with cross-functional partners for multiple security feature areas (e.g., product, service). You will work with partner teams to determine the features or experiences to prioritize in the roadmap that will support achievement of success criteria and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)

Partner with community marketing teams by building marketing and roll-out plans, as well as leading the creation of customer support plans. You’ll also take advantage of major opportunities to highlight our contributions to open source security projects and platforms in community spaces, both large-event-based and online.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

2+ years experience with the cloud native technology stack including Kubernetes
-
2+ years in an open source security leadership role

2+ years experience with writing, releasing, and/or governing open source security software in a multi-vendor foundation context

Product Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
