Summary: Under the general direction of the Director of Engineering, this position analyzes and optimizes processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs. This includes process design, troubleshooting, process optimization, process analysis, process documentation, quality control, project management, and process automation to ensure consistent quality with the most efficient practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design and develop efficient manufacturing processes and systems to produce goods or services.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
- Design and develop industrial processes to meet IPC, UL/CSA Wire Harness Traceability and UL 508A panel build requirements.
- Analyze existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement appropriate solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, maintenance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of processes, technologies, and systems.
- Conduct process audits, collect and analyze data, and generate reports to assess performance, identify bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
- Set expectations with production team for required improvements and monitors for execution and adaptation.
- Actively participate in all Lapp Operating Systems, Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and other improvement methodologies to improve all aspects of the entire value stream.
- Identify and implement automation and technology solutions to improve process efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Lead and participate in tool qualification, conduct tests and measurements of their operations to determine control over critical dimensions and defectivity of the process line.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to select, install, and validate new equipment and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards by monitoring process parameters, conducting risk assessments, and implementing appropriate control measures.
- Train and educate production staff on new processes, equipment, and procedures to ensure smooth implementation and adherence to established standards.
- Continuously monitor industry trends, advancements, and best practices to stay updated with the latest process engineering techniques and technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a process engineer within a manufacturing environment (Wire and cable and wiring industry preferred)
- Experience with designing and assembling Industrial Control Panels per UL 508A.
- Strong knowledge of process improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge of problem-solving tools, TQM, SPC, and Root cause analysis.
- Project management experience
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards relevant to the industry.
WORK LOCATION
This position is in New Jersey and reports to the Florham Park, NJ office. Incumbents are required to work in the office full-time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must be able to tolerate conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
COMPENSATION: After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $85,000 plus participation in LAPP's bonus plan.
