Club SciKidz Hartford is a summer day camp located in Avon and South Windosr, CT. We believe that every child is a scientist and aim to make them even better scientists through our hands-on STEM education activities. Our 2024 Summer Camp season offers over 35+ camp themes, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Responsibilities
As a summer camp counselor, you will be responsible for leading and facilitating a variety of hands-on science experiments and activities, as well as outdoor games. You will engage with campers and ensure their safety, enjoyment, and learning throughout the camp experience. This is an on-site role located in South Windsor, CT.
Summer Camp Dates: July 8, 2024 - August 2, 2024 . Must be available on ALL dates at the location that you are contracted for.
Schedule/Availability Requirements: Normal Weekly Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4 PM (Hours may vary). This is a contract role for a Summer Camp Counselor at Club SciKidz Hartford.
Paid Orientation and Training
- 6-hour In-person orientation and training session (Date to be confirmed)
- Sexual harassment online training
Qualifications
- Teaching Experience: Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring, particularly with children or adolescents, is essential. Familiarity with educational techniques and strategies to engage campers in learning activities is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Lesson Plans: Ability to comprehend and effectively interpret lesson plans provided by camp coordinators. This includes grasping learning objectives, activities, and necessary materials to facilitate educational sessions.
- Instructional Skills: Proficiency in delivering instructions clearly and concisely to campers, ensuring comprehension and participation. Adeptness in adapting teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities among campers.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- An educational background, certification in teaching or experience in STEM education is a plus
- Ability to create a fun and inclusive environment for campers
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Prior Camp experience is preferred
- Experience working with groups of children
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least one year of college education
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must have current First Aid and CPR License. Certification should be received from one of the following-
- American Red Cross
- American Heart Association
- National Safety Council
- American Safety and Health Institute
- Medic First Aid International Inc
- First Aid Course approved by Child Care by OEC prior to January 6, 2016
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education, engineering, computer science, gaming, and medicine majors preferred
