Director of Residential Services

Full-time (35 hours)
M-F 8:30 am-4:30 pm (May require some flexibility to work nonstandard hours)
Salary: $95-105k per year.
AABR, Inc. is a Queens-based nonprofit that supports adults with Intellectual/ Developmental Disabilities and autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. AABR, INC. pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills.
The Director of Residential Services is a key leadership position for AABR. The primary responsibility being coaching, training, developing and managing AABR Residential Staff to enable them to effectively carry out the AABR mission.
Specifically, you will:
- Lead by example with values and actions consistent with AABR principles.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet the goals and objectives of AABR.
- Effectively communicate with program employees and other department/program team members.
- Administer the program by developing and implementing consistent and efficient standard operating procedures.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies at all times; ensuring AABR facilities are license and audit ready every day.
- Ensure that the department and its programming are excellent, and that all activities and actions reflect a culture of belonging; present programmatic needs, drive development of solutions, pursue continuous improvement.
- Evaluate potential risks and develop proactive responses to avoid problems.
- Oversee the implementation of supports and programming as per NYS OPWDD regulations.
- Assure that ISPs and behavior support plans are followed as written as well as modified and updated on time, and as needed in close collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Ensure that all Incidents within specific program(s) are reported, investigated, and disposition according to policy.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented across all program locations and citations are not repeated.
- Facilitate in Service Training that is effective and dynamic.
We require:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Human Services, Social-Work or the equivalent (Master’s Degree preferred)
- 7-10 years’ experience in an community based non-profit or other mission driven organization that serves the intellectual and Developmental Disability population, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Demonstrated experience in an organization with OPWDD oversight.
- Comprehensive knowledge of health and serve programing and regulations for individuals being served by OPWDD
- Experience managing program budgets and managing fiscal operations
- Compressive understanding of regulations and compliance requirements at the local, state and federal levels
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to lead, motivate, supervise, evaluate, coach, train and manage people
- Experience with the I/DD population
