This role will be a key member of the Airwallex Controllership Organization and Americas leadership. As Finance Director, Americas you will be responsible for both the regional North America and South America (overseeing our key entities in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil). You will play an important role in overseeing the accuracy of financial reporting of the entities within your scope, and you will also be a key driver in strategic projects like acquisitions, expansion, and license applications. This role will also be a very important contributor on the projects to support our future IPO ambitions. You will lead a team across various locations and have the opportunity to further build on your leadership capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Lead the controllership team in delivering financial reporting, driving an efficient monthly close process, streamlining finance operations, building a control framework, and managing audits
Empower your team by leading, mentoring, and developing a strong team of high performing members
Support the integration of the Mexpago acquisition into the existing Airwallex process and lead the financial side of further geographic expansions in your region
Collaborate with the Global Tax team on tax compliance for your region
Support a wide range of strategic projects to enable Airwallex to continue its growth into new products
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance domain to increase efficiency or collaboration
Closely collaborate with product or business teams that require finance support on new product developments
Close collaboration with other finance teams on department wide projects and change management
Provide cross-functional leadership across the Americas teams by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, People. Product, Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance teams
Develop and improve policies, benefits, and systems to scale our fast growing team across the Americas
Responsibilities of the role will develop and evolve over time
What you bring:
Master's degree in accounting, business, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred
Strong technical understanding of financial services, fintech businesses, and regulatory environments
Extensive experience in a financial controlling role and proven track record of building and expanding these capabilities within an organization
Strong knowledge on local accounting standards and ability to apply them in practice
Proven experience in managing complex local or international projects focused on process improvement initiatives
Confident, creative, and innovative thought leadership and communication skills to deliver impact in a hyper growth environment; ability to interact with all levels within the organization
Experience working independently and navigating ambiguity
Experience in US Tax compliance and structures is preferred
Mergers & Acquisitions experience is a plus
