Job Summary
The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for managing Pritzlaff’s food safety program to ensure food quality, regulatory compliance and safety. This role involves developing and implementing food safety policies, procedures, and protocols to mitigate risks and maintain a safe and hygienic environment throughout the food production process. This role will over see both of Pritzlaff’s locations.
Job Duties
- Develop, implement, and maintain food safety management systems in accordance with regulatory requirements such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), FDA Food Code, and other relevant standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential food safety hazards and ensure compliance with established standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to food safety activities, including inspection reports, training records, and corrective action plans.
- Provide training and education to employees on food safety practices, sanitation procedures, and proper handling techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to address food safety concerns and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay informed about emerging food safety issues, trends, and best practices through ongoing research and participation in relevant industry conferences and seminars.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and audits, ensuring timely responses to inquiries and requests for information.
- Investigate and document food safety incidents, including outbreaks or contamination events, and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
Job Qualifications
- Certifications in HAACP and food safety (e.g., Certified Food Safety Coordinator) required
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Public Health, or related field preferred
- Proven experience in food safety management, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance within the food industry
- Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and standards, including HACCP principles, FDA Food Code, FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act), and GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess food safety risks and develop effective mitigation strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train and educate employees at all levels of the organization
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
