Job Summary: The Athletic Trainer is a Christian who will provide athletic training services during athletic contests, practices, and activities at The First Academy. He or she will operate under the direction of the Director of Athletics and the Head Athletic Trainer, working cooperatively with the Athletics team to support student-athletes. He or she will participate in the development of a successful student-centered athletic program that fosters skill development and sportsmanship, contributing to their development as mature Christians, consistent with The First Academy philosophies, vision, and mission statement. This is a full-time staff position.

- Your service at The First Academy is a ministry. The Baptist Faith and Message of 2000, The First Baptist Church of Orlando, and the School’s Statement of Faith outlined in Article III of its By-laws are the guidelines of Biblical interpretation and application to social and lifestyle issues at The First Academy. - Provide athletic training services during games, practices, and athletic activities or events throughout the year including but not limited to:
- Pre-event setup/preparation
- During event supervision and medical evaluation/services
- Travel for all football events and select additional events as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer or Athletic Director
- Select weekend/school holiday events (for additional compensation?)
- Administer and execute clinical and administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer including but not limited to:
- Documentation and maintenance of medical records with the department EMR (Healthy Roster) and periodic auditing of medical clearance software (FamilyID)
- Maintain regular communication with parents pertaining to student-athletes medical information, education and clearance information/status
- Prompt communication with the Head Athletic Trainer, coaches, and/or Athletic Department, or Educational Administration to coordinate care of student-athletes
- Assist Athletic Training Staff with:
- Overseeing all phases of rehabilitation for student-athletes at The First Academy
- Planning, administering and monitoring baseline concussion testing for all impact sports teams at The First Academy as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer
- Maintaining and and review appropriate athletic clearance documentation
- Planning and participating in continuing education and in-service training/presentations
- Assist with additional event coverage or administration as directed
- Reviewing and updating Sports Medicine Operations documents annually
- Regularly attend/visit athletic practices and games in all on-campus sports
- Provide supervision of TFA Sports Medicine including:
- Maintenance of golf carts, modalities, Waterboys, inventory and equipment
- Assist with supervision, education and mentoring of TFA Sports Medicine students
- Comply with all HIPAA and FERPA standards at all times
- Regularly attend required departmental and all-staff meetings
- Assist with needs and meetings pertaining to the Campus Health and Safety team
- Collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Directors and Athletic evaluate the guidelines and procedures that will ensure the efficient operation and management of the athletic program
- Be able to lift 50lbs
- Performs organizational, administrative duties, and other professional responsibilities that come with being an athletic trainer.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or Head Athletic Trainer
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Evidence a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the First Academy Statement of Faith including being a born again Christian, active Church member, exhibiting a close personal walk with Jesus Christ: modeling an exemplary Biblical lifestyle and evidencing maturity in the understanding and integration of sound Biblical principles in classroom instruction and personal counseling.
- Must be a certified and licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Florida
- Knowledge of a variety of sports
- Understanding of overall operations of a thriving athletic program
- High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential, sensitive information
- Demonstrate a joyful, and passionate devotion to serving a great diversity of students and parents, and an eagerness to help others
- Previous work experience in an academic setting preferred
Additional job opportunities (available but not required):
- Assist in CPR in instruction if certified
- Assist with mentorship of Sports Medicine student
