We are seeking a seasoned HR professional who is bilingual in English & Spanish, to join our team as a Senior HR Generalist.
As a Senior HR Generalist, you will play a critical role in managing and enhancing our human resources functions. This position requires an analytical thinker who can balance day-to-day HR tasks with long-term planning and development. You will work closely with leadership to ensure HR practices support the company's goals and maintain a positive workplace culture. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following.
- Assists with the recruitment effort for all open positions from posting job ads to onboarding the candidate and all processes in-between.
- Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists in preparing and maintaining the employee handbook/policies and procedures manual.
- Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
- Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans and performs benefits administration, including claims resolution, change reporting, verifying benefit billing accuracy and processes for payment.
- Files EEO-1 report annually; and maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
- Reports, maintains and monitors workers' compensation case files; follows-up on open cases.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
- Recommends innovative approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
- Maintains employee personnel files both paper and human resource information system records; compiles reports from the HRIS database.
- Processes payroll and manages all payroll related activities, payroll discrepancies, including wage garnishments, etc.
- Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
- Monitors employee performance evaluation process and ensures the reviews are completed by field managers in a timely manner (i.e., six months, and yearly thereafter).
- Administers COBRA for group health plans.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
- Communicates regularly with HR manager to provide status on work projects, to discuss any employee related issues, and/or HR procedural/compliance issues.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field preferred.
- Professional HR certification preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
- At least 5 years of experience working as an HR generalist experience, preferably with a union employer.
- At least 3 years of recent payroll experience utilizing an HRIS system. Experience with UKG/Kronos a plus.
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows, and the ability to learn software applications quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels of the company and with external parties in a professional manner through effective written and verbal and communications.
- Strong organization skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, self-starter,
- Must have proven ability to problem-solve using critical thinking skills.
- Required to be detail oriented; accuracy is a must.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of personalities.
- Ability to collaborate with others and build trust and credibility.
- Bilingual in Spanish required.
- Valid Driver’s License, vehicle, insurance and safe driving record.
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday; this is a hybrid work environment working 3-days in the office and 2-days remotely.
