Your Team & Role
As DevOps Solutions Engineer, you bridge the gap between developers and our centralized DevOps platform. You will listen to development teams and provide technical solutions to solve their challenges. This role is charged with identifying feature gaps with our DevOps platform and drive our product teams for enhancements. The candidate will need a combination of technical knowledge, problem solving skills, and a customer delivery mindset. You represent the “voice of the customer” and will be measured against our customers’ success.
Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day
Build applications ensuring that the code follows latest coding practices and industry standards, using modern design patterns and architectural principles; with guidance, actively code against the roadmap
Develop high quality, well documented and efficient code adhering to all applicable Prudential standards
Collaborate with product owners in understanding needs and defining feature stories, tech leads in defining technical design and other team members to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact
Write unit, integration tests and functional automation, researching problems discovered by quality assurance or product support, developing solutions to address the problems
Bring an understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, begin to identify opportunities to provide feedback to the team, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day
Work on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
Use programming languages including but not limited to Python, Java, or JavaScript and React, Springboot, Node.js frameworks
The Skills & Expertise You Bring
Bachelor of Computer Science or Engineering or experience in related fields
2+ years of experience in software development or DevOps
Ability to communicate software development best practices and industry trends
Understanding of source control and git - branching schemes, merge types, conflict resolutions
Knowledge of CI/CD orchestration tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with various DevOps domains:
* Software development processes (Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, Shell, .NET, C++, IaC, CasC)
* Developer tools (Visual Studio Code, Homebrew)
* Issue tracking and versioning (Jira)
* Package managers (pip, npm, NuGet)
* Build tools (Gradle, Maven, Docker, MSBuild, make)
* Artifact repositories (Artifactory, ECR, Nexus)
* Deployment tools (Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation, Spinnaker)
* Infrastructure and deployment targets (cloud, datacenters, containers, SaaS, PaaS)
Strong verbal communication skills to address both the development community and business leaders
Documentation skills to publish user guides, defects, feature requests, and architecture designs
Ability of collaboration to develop roles/responsibilities maps and process workflows
Excellent initiative, curiosity, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Ability to perform within a scrum team as well as working independently
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity in application development (Python, Java, Groovy, JavaScript, Go)
Familiarity in UX/UI or front-end web design
Familiarity in reporting and Business Intelligence tools
Familiarity in API development and microservice architecture
Familiarity with application security testing (SAST, DAST, SCA, xSPM)
Financial services and insurance industry experience
Bachelor’s degree

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $83,000.00 to $123,400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
