Position: Marshal
Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Head Golf Professional
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Marshal position is responsible for informing guests of on-course expectations while playing Poppy Hills in an effort to improve their overall experience. They will foster a welcoming atmosphere, share pertinent daily information, encourage maintenance practices, and maintain punctual start times and pace of play. This position will receive direct supervision and are expected to work collectively together to service the patrons of Poppy Hills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Welcome guests to the golf course before play and ensure they are informed of relevant information pertaining to their round (e.g. cart only holes, local rules, etc.).
- Convey and actively assist proper course maintenance practices including replacing or filling divots, replacing ball marks, raking bunkers, etc.
- Maintain a punctual tee sheet ensuring members and guests begin play according to their scheduled tee time.
- Track and confirm relevant player and group information on the daily tee sheet, including start time, number of players, cart numbers, etc.
- Observe play on the golf course and ensure the standard is communicated and maintained daily as it relates to pace of play.
- Stay in contact with the golf shop and course marshal regarding issues that arise or may arise throughout the course of a day.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image
- Communicate emergency and safety information to Members and Guests in a calm and professional manner when necessary.
- Support safe work habits and a safe working environment at all times.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good communication skills both verbally and written.
- Ability to communicate in the English language.
- Excellent communication and organizational skill sets and present a positive image of the organization while fulfilling responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with people from a diverse range of backgrounds.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a part-time, Non-Exempt position, with a starting salary of $16.00 per hour. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Participation in the company’s 401k plan after one full year of employment. Sick leave, holidays, meals, and golf benefits also included.
