Publix Pharmacy facilities in Orlando include a large distribution center, a highly automated Central Fill operation that dispenses and supplies customer prescriptions to our stores, and Central Processing operations where pharmacists remotely verify customer prescriptions to assist our store pharmacists. We also have a Specialty Pharmacy operation servicing high cost medication for patients with complex disease states, and a Compounding Pharmacy operation where medicines are custom-made to suit the needs of individual patients. We have a second automated Central Fill facility under construction in Jacksonville that you’ll also help support.
Based at our Central Pharmacy offices in Orlando, Florida, you’ll be working with other IEs and business process owners to help drive safe and efficient operations. Our industrial engineers are involved with the design, installation, and improvement of integrated systems, and play an instrumental role in developing and supporting the tactics and strategy for Publix Pharmacy.
Responsibilities include:

Develops and maintains Engineered Labor Standards that are used to schedule, pay, and/or evaluate the performance of Publix associates and suppliers
- Provides analytical decision support to assigned business areas through the use of core Industrial Engineering skills, mathematical tools, modeling and computational methods for system analysis, evaluation, and optimization
- Provides business guidance and industrial engineering expertise to VP, Sr. Director, Director, Sr. Manager, and Department Managers.
- Identifies process improvements for supported business areas and
- Directs, plans and coordinates the day to day activities of up to one IE Support Specialist & up to one Student IE.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline or equivalent experience
- At least one (1) year as an industrial engineer (including internships) or at least two (2) years providing analytical or technical support with a demonstrated ability to perform exceptional process improvement work

- Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, MBA or related discipline
- Three (3) or more years as an industrial engineer or closely related profession and two (2) or more years of Publix experience at the warehouse, corporate or manufacturing support level with project leadership experience
- Certified Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher
- Certification by the Association for Operations Management (APICS), or Institute of Supply Management or American Society for Transportation and Logistics
- Knowledge of the Publix Pharmacy and Distribution strategy and supply chain to support the execution of the strategy at the Central Pharmacy level, prescription filling level, and warehouse storage level
- Knowledge of the master data that drives the forecasting, planning, production scheduling, shipping functionality, inventory management, warehousing, purchasing and costing of pharmaceuticals
- Knowledge of Publix Pharmacy’s operational processes
- Knowledge of Distribution’s storage and inventory guidelines
- Knowledge of Publix department structure
- Knowledge of Publix’s accounting principles and tools
- Knowledge of the Publix Quality Decision Process (QDP) steps and contacts
- Knowledge of Rx fulfillment processing equipment, automation systems, and electronic controls used in Central Fill

As a year-end bonus to associates, Publix issues one month’s extra pay (pro-rated in the first year) each year if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check that year. This is calculated as a 13th month of pay in the Potential Annual Pay with Bonus line above.
