Radin is looking to fill a position for a full-time Cable Engineer- (Mechanical) with Automated Rail Technology (APM) experience. The position is located at Newark Liberty International Airport and will require working closely with the APM manufacturer. Radin provides planning and engineering consulting services in various states and is looking for a candidate who can fill this role for the AirTrain Replacement Project at Newark Liberty International Airport. Qualifications and General Requirements
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
· 15+ years of experience in the rail/APM field.
· Ability to understand and interpret written specifications, plans, and construction documents for work orders and build documents.
· Experience with large machine type design (railway systems), application, and construction/installation resources.
· Understanding of mechanical/electrical elements involved in cable pull type of Systems – drive units, deflection units, sheaves, cables, drives, (specifically, having direct experience with cable propelled APM systems or at the minimum cable driven gondolas or amusement park rides).
· Understanding of Millwright/Machinist orientation on tolerancing and alignments of large assembly line types of items such as rolling mills and other items like assembly lines where multiple components interact with one another. (Millwrights install, maintain, repair, dismantle, and reassemble machinery in industrial and construction settings. Work must be precise or there will be a strain of misalignment or ill-fitting that can harm or destroy complex mechanical systems.)
· Experience with testing and operations and maintenance of Systems as noted above.
· Ability to effectively and tactfully communicate with clients, supervisors, office staff, and inspectors regarding project status and issues, drawings, specifications, and qualification test results.
· Detail-oriented, with capability to detect non-conformities and complete detailed reports within a timely manner.
· Experience interpreting and supervising the execution of various rail and construction industry standards & requirements (national and owner-based).
· Field and office experience (practical application and paperwork sides).
