Job Summary
The Engineering Technician will join a multidisciplinary development team to support the fabrication and assembly of new prototypes and salable products. They will work in a state-of-the-art ultrasonics laboratory and on-site production area. This is an in-office, 5 day per week position. Some travel may be required.
Responsibilities
§ Build and repair SMT printed circuit boards with fine-pitch IC’s requiring a microscope.
§ Build intricate mechanical and electrical subassemblies.
§ Construct, use, and support test fixtures and systems that aid production.
§ Make specialized acoustical measurements using a fiber optic hydrophone and custom software.
§ Use and become familiar with specialty laboratory equipment such as vacuum mixers, ovens, impedance analyzers and oscilloscopes.
§ Mix and apply epoxy composite materials.
§ Compile and analyze test data in support of product development and validation testing.
§ Work within a computer-based system to support engineering change control.
§ Procure materials and electrical components for product and prototype builds.
§ Manage the calibration and repair of in-house laboratory equipment.
§ Write and/or revise work instructions for specialty processes using Microsoft Word, Excel.
Skills and Qualifications
The preferred candidate will hold an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET). They will be able to read electrical schematics, circuit board layouts, and create Bill of Materials (BOMs). They will have strong SMT soldering skills at 0402 level under a microscope. They will be comfortable setting up and using oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and power supplies. They will be highly organized with a keen attention to detail. They will be diligent and be able to work independently. They will be good at problem solving. They will be strong at hand assembly work. They will know how to use Microsoft Office products, especially Excel. They will be totally committed to product quality. The preferred candidate will work well in a team and thrive in a start-up environment.
