Solon Manufacturing Company, located in Chardon, Ohio is a premier design and manufacturer of Belleville spring washers and industrial pressure switches, seeking an Assistant Controller. The successful candidate will hold a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations, overseeing financial activities, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting the Senior Director, Finance in preparing financial statements and reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal financial reporting systems
- Support the annual budget process
- Assist in developing financial forecasts and analyzing variances
- Monitor and report on budget perf
- Oversee cost accounting functions including inventory valuation, standard costing, and variance analysis
- Analyze production costs and recommend cost-saving measures
- Collaborate with operation teams to ensure accurate costing and pricing
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements
- Maintain and enforce internal control policies and procedures
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations
- Daily cash balancing and forecasting along with management recommendations
- Responsible for all transactional and general accounting entries including accrual and prepaid balancing and management
- General and subsidiary ledger account analysis of all balance sheet accounts up to and including adjusting entries
- Responsible for maintenance, calculation, reporting, and issuance of tax information up to and including local tax, CAT tax, annual franchise tax and annual 1099’s
- Protects the Company’s value by maintaining confidentiality and complying with legal requirements

Experiences, Competencies, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
- Solid knowledge of cost accounting principles and estimating practices
- Proven experience in a senior-level finance or accounting role, with a track record of success
- Experience in managing financial operations within a complex organization
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Proficiency in financial management software, ERP, Excel and Microsoft 365
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to interpret financial data and trends
- Uphold the highest ethical standards and integrity in financial reporting and decision making

Work Environment:
This job operates in an office environment. Exposure to manufacturing environment as required. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment and uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc. Standard work week, although some overtime hours may be required.
Physical Demands:
