Cambridge College is looking for highly energetic and driven Nursing Instructors. Nursing Instructors report to the Nursing Program Dean. These duties include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities: Applicants must have an active Florida Nursing License. At least one (1) year of experience teaching in the classroom and a Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. Nurse Instructors are responsible for equipping future nurses with the knowledge and skills to help them pass the NCLEX examination, provide quality patient care, and advance in their careers. Nursing Instructors carry out daily tasks that often include supervising laboratory and clinical work, classroom instruction, conducting research on nursing-related topics, and working with internal and external educational partners to support instructional programs. In addition, instructors must understand the rules and regulations of the Florida Board of Nursing, CCNE accreditation standards, and any additional accreditation standards.
Duties:
1. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning based on learner needs.
2. The instructor is proactive and promotes motivation for learning to the student in theory, lab, and clinical practice.
3. Employs instructional methods and materials most appropriate for meeting course and program outcomes. Provides an active learning environment that engages students of all learning types.
4. Assesses the accomplishments of students by using quizzes, exams, and evaluation methods.
5. Diagnoses the learning strengths and weaknesses of students in an objective manner, thus providing remediation as needed.
6. Assists in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Reports any sentinel events to the Nursing Program Dean immediately.
7. Develops reasonable rules of classroom/lab/clinical behavior and procedures. Maintains order in a fair manner according to the school’s rules and regulations.
8. Participates in planning and evaluating curriculum, teaching schedules, and course outlines.
9. Participates in activities that facilitate maintaining the faculty member’s own nursing competence and professional expertise in teaching responsibility and maintaining clinical competence through clinical experience, workshops, and continuing education.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Teaching: 1 year in classroom teaching in a professional nursing program (Required)
- Nursing: 2 years of clinical experience (Required)
- RN License (Required)
- Master in Nursing (Required)
- Clinical background in Pediatrics or OB specialty (Required)
- Experience teaching a Pediatric or OB didactic content (Preferred).
