We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Catering Chef/Lead Line Cook to join us at Grub & Games Cafe and Bar at Bluestone in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Our ideal candidate will be dedicated to enhancing the guest experience through exceptional hospitality.
Candidates should possess substantial experience in fast-paced upscale quick-service environments, along with a solid understanding of managing high-volume events and catering operations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Train and supervise line cooks.
- Set up and stock food items and other necessary supplies.
- Prepare food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing sauces.
- Cook food items by grilling, frying, baking, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards.
- Execute catering orders.
- Ensure product and service standards are consistently at a high level.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance.
- Perform inventory checks and complete food storage logs.
- Identify and communicate inventory levels and equipment needs.
- Have complete knowledge of our products and policies.
- Communicate cordially, effectively and clearly with staff members.
- Open / close restaurant according to company standards.
- Maintain the highest level of energy and integrity in the restaurant.
- Recognize, ensure, and maintain quality in all of our products and services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 year experience in a similar capacity
- Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred
- Experience with various cooking methods and procedures
- Great interpersonal skills, customer service oriented, professional, attentive, and cheerful
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs
- Ability to work on weekends and nights
- Current ServSafe Certification or Food Protection Certificate
