POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualized skill acquisition programming in speech, language, and related areas for students enrolled at REED Academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide primarily individual and consultative speech and language services to individuals with autism aged 3-21
- Model and provide staff training on appropriate instructional practices related to speech and language programming
- Determine service type and allocation based on individual student needs through collaboration with senior staff and administrators
- Develop, monitor, and implement IEP goals and objectives related to articulation, language, social skills, AAC, and feeding in collaboration with other senior staff and administrators
- Assess, implement, modify, and provide training on low and high tech augmentative systems
- Collaborate with professionals and parents on a regular basis in various formats such as email, phone, and in-person meetings
- Support the programming process by developing targets, teaching instructions, and, as appropriate, curricular materials in collaboration with other staff
- Collect and analyze programming data
- Make modifications to programming in collaboration with senior staff
- Collaborate with outside service providers in accordance with REED Academy’s policies and procedures
- Support the assessment process using educational and speech and language assessments
- Support the documentation process for IEPs and progress reports by contributing to and reviewing reports
- Collaborate on the development and modification of behavior support plans with a focus on development of Functional Communication Training (FCT), antecedent strategies, and curricular revision
- Collect appropriate behavior data and implement behavior strategies and intervention plans as appropriate
- Provide ongoing training to staff for speech and language skills
- Assist with research initiatives
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Master’s degree in speech and language pathology or communication disorders (Clinical fellows are welcome to apply!)
- NJ Speech-Language Specialist certification
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- New Jersey state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- ASHA certification (CCC-SLP)
