Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and educational standards
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and growth
- Use effective teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement educational programs and initiatives
- Utilize technology and other resources to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Manage classroom behavior and implement behavior management strategies when necessary
- Provide individualized support and tutoring to students as needed
- Collaborate with other professionals, such as special education teachers, to support students with special needs or disabilities
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (required)
- Teaching certification or license (required)
- Previous experience working with elementary school-aged children (preferred)
- Familiarity with education administration and policies

Position Overview
This position works cooperatively with leadership of the school, Board of Directors, school staff, parents and students to help the school accomplish its mission. The teacher will conduct student instruction, classroom monitoring, behavior modification, and nurturing of students. Candidates should have a passion for modeling positive contributions to the school culture through high expectations, professional collaboration, strong relationships with students and families, and a spirit of coachability.
Key responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
School Operations
- Follow research-based philosophy and principles, plan, prepare and teach the prescribed curriculum for the grade(s) and/or subject areas(s) he or she is teaching.
- Adapt/modify instruction based on student need
- Knowledge of personalizing learning for students including academic differentiation and behavioral strategies
- Align instruction and assessment with curricular learning targets
- Facilitate instruction in an engaging, safe classroom environment.
- Implement, execute, and measure academic success at the classroom level.
- Assist with the ongoing review and improvement of processes and procedures related to the school.
- Follow established teaching protocols and programs to ensure consistency.
- Work cooperatively and interact positively with students, parents, staff and community.
- Oversee classroom management and escalate issues to appropriate personnel, as applicable.
- High presence and availability to all students, faculty and parents.
- Monitor students during break, lunch and recess.
- Supervise co-curricular activities, as needed.
- Support duties with other teachers such as, but not limited to, specialist classes, lunch duty, and recess.
Administrative
- Participate and attend school functions and faculty meetings.
- Provide leadership in ensuring a positive and co-operative culture and climate exists within the school.
- Provide structure, directions, and evaluation of Educational Assistant (when applicable).
- Prepare for and attend teacher conferences as scheduled, and as needed for individual students.
Experience and Requirements
- Must believe in research based teaching philosophy and principles and extend those to students and families.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
- Teacher will obtain Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification and maintain certification through required continuing education courses, if required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner with a diverse population of children, youth and adults.
- Possess the ability to establish a rapport with youth, parents and other staff, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Experience working in a school environment, including general knowledge of issues facing trauma and autism, is desired.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with other disciplines in problem solving.
- Ability to communicate and work in multiple settings and environments.
- Has a growth mindset and coachable spirit.
Working Conditions
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, depending on work tasks.
- Work will be performed in a school environment.
- Willingness to be outside with students during recess/breaks.
- Clear need to understand and lead efforts in child and school safety.
