Job Responsibilities:
- Use specialized knowledge of local winds, weather, water depths, tides, currents, and hazards avoiding other marine traffic, reefs, outlying shoals, and other hazards to operating boat/barge
- Load and transport assorted pieces of equipment, supplies, and materials
- Steer boats/barges into and out of berths
- Properly and safely fender, moor, and anchor boat/barge
- Prevent boat/barge under navigational control from engaging in unsafe operations
- Consult maps, charts, weather reports, and navigation equipment to determine and direct workboat/barge movements
- Give directions to crew members
- Maintain any required logs
- Operate ship-to-shore radios to exchange information needed for ship operations
- Provide assistance in maritime rescue operations
- Outfit and maintain proper safety equipment
- Other duties as required
Qualifications/ Requirements:
- 5-7 years of relevant construction experience
- Towing Endorsement License for 200 ton
