Job Overview:
The Safety and Compliance Manager leads the implementation and management of Royal Food Services Safety Policies and Risk Management Programs; manages the safety audit, risk assessment, and fleet related compliance programs; manages, coordinates, and conducts safety training.
Responsibilities:
- Create a culture of thorough safety training, accident prevention, safety campaigns, and employee and manager accountability.
- Maintain employee and company compliance as it relates to OSHA, DOT, and other governmental regulations, including but not limited to regular monitoring of FMCSA scores.
- Conduct regular safety meetings monthly, or as needed.
- Utilize and maintain technological tools to monitor driver performance and all employee safety. Use data gathered to coach employees towards desired behaviors.
- Manage the on-boarding of new hires as it relates to company procedures and safety training. Track new hires and report on their performance.
- Research, recommend, and implement new equipment and/or technology to effectively support fleet operations and safety.
- Regular review of company safety program and recommend revisions as needed.
- Track and manage driver annual physicals, license renewals, and eligibility to drive.
- Monitor driver MVR’s for non-compliant activity.
- Conduct investigations of accidents and injuries. Develop and coach corrective actions resulting from those incidents.
- Work in coordination with Fleet Manager and Director of Transportation to ensure all company vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet operational requirements.
- Observe employee activities to uncover and correct employee violations of safety or operational standards.

- College or vocational diploma preferred; high school diploma required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, safety compliance, and/or driver supervision.
- Knowledge of Federal and State DOT requirements and OSHA regulations.
Working conditions:
Work environment is usually fast paced with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations requiring a high level of adaptability and flexibility. Field of work includes offices, the warehouse and surrounding grounds, roads/highways/interstates, automobiles, and various kinds of customer locations. Limited hazards due to presence in warehouse, office, and grounds surrounding distribution center. Unknown hazards present on roads, highways, interstates, and customer locations.
Physical requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and drive. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
