SUMMARY: The manual machinist will operate conventional lathes, milling machines, bore mill, vertical lathes and portable grinders along with other machines.
Reports to: Area Lead Man (dotted line to Director of Production)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General:
- Inspect part for condition prior to starting work
- Verify Part Number and Serial number (if applicable)
- Review for proper stamp-offs prior to commencement of work.
- Read and interpret process specifications in traveler.
- Studies blueprints, drawings, schematics, or sample parts to determine product dimensions and tolerances as well as best method and sequence of operations needed to complete operation.
· Must possess a full understanding and hands-on experience with manual lathes, manual milling machines portable grinders and related machine shop equipment
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut to manufacture quality parts safely and efficiently.
- Observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specification
- Confer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining problems
- Scan in and out of operation as required
- Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.
- Ensures all work is performed to the highest standards of quality and safety with regards to tight machining tolerances
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and observe and follow all safety procedures reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Responsible to be thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used within their assigned area of responsibility.
- Properly record the work performed on the appropriate maintenance record, router.
- Performs grinding and blending with different pneumatic, electric and hand tools.
- Performs visual inspections and make necessary adjustment to conform to job specifications
- Daily inspection, Cleaning and Preventative maintenance of all machining equipment
- Pre-measure and post-measure parts with required tooling and gauges and record in records, router.
- Perform required preventive maintenance on equipment as required and record accurately
- Responsible for daily housekeeping.
QUALIFICIATIONS:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or minimum 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- FAA Drug and Alcohol Screening
- Measuring Tools practical hand on test evaluation
· Strong mathematical skills
· Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Exhibit a strong work ethic that includes a good attendance record.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include weekends, and overtime
