Responsibilities:
- Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls from the public and other agencies
- Gather relevant information from callers to determine the nature and urgency of the situation
- Dispatch appropriate personnel or resources to the scene of the incident
- Monitor and track the status of ongoing incidents and provide updates to responding units
- Coordinate communication between field units, other agencies, and support services
- Maintain accurate records of all calls, incidents, and actions taken
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in emergency situations
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and other communication equipment
- Follow established protocols and procedures for handling different types of incidents
Skills:
- Excellent data entry skills to accurately input information into computer systems
- Strong negotiation skills to effectively handle high-stress situations and resolve conflicts
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with callers, field units, and other agencies
- Knowledge of first aid procedures to provide basic medical assistance over the phone if needed
- Ability to transcribe detailed information accurately and quickly
- Familiarity with GPS and GIS systems for efficient routing and location tracking
- Understanding of law enforcement procedures and terminology for effective coordination with police departments
- Experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred but not required
-High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
-No Felony Convictions
-Pre-Employment testing required
- Psychological Evaluation required
