POSITION SUMMARY
At the direction of a leader, the Anesthesiology Support Technician (AST) coordinates the equipment and supplies for the Anesthesiology department. Also assists in integrating surgical and anesthesia equipment to ensure effective and efficient operations. The AST may work in all areas that the Anesthesia team provides services when needed (Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Radiology, Pavilion Surgery Center, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Verify equipment is functioning properly; ensure efficient arrangement of equipment and disposable products to enhance work efficiency of licensed personnel
Coordinate the needs of anesthesia; assist with technical aspects of getting patients ready for general or regional anesthesia; assist with intravenous, intra-arterial, and other monitoring catheters. May occasionally assist licensed personnel with non-invasive patient care as directed.
Participate in rotation of coordinating personnel, i.e., during Team Leader's absence and/or when a call is received via pager, relays incoming assignment (e.g., room to be prepped) to the available Anesthesia team.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required: At least 1 year of job-related experience
Preferred: 2 years of experience EDUCATION
Required: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred: One year vocational or technical school or equivalent education/experience related to anesthesia
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required: BLS/CPR thru the American Heart Association Provider Upon Hire
Required: American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 days after hired.
