Job Overview:
We are a private medical practice based in New York City, specializing in general and bariatric surgery, obesity, and weight management, and in the process of phasing into a new location and growing administration/support staff. We are seeking a rare individual with experience in both surgical scheduling and surgical billing who would also be able to provide additional administrative support on an as-needed basis in this all-hands-on-deck transition phase. This is a hybrid position, with some in-person/office and some remote work.
Working with a "NYC Top Doctor" and leading bariatric surgeon and specialist in obesity and medical weight management, you will play a crucial role in this leading private surgery-oriented practice at a time of dynamic growth and change. This Surgical Scheduler/Biller position will involve a combination of in-person office work and remote work, with approximately 10-15 hours dedicated to Surgical Scheduling, and approximately 20 hours to Surgical Billing/related administrative responsibilities.
The Surgical Scheduler/Biller schedules diagnostic tests and specialized appointments for patients at hospitals; schedules surgical procedures for patients; obtains verification of insurance coverage for inpatient/outpatient surgical procedures to include referrals from PCP where applicable; and maintains an efficient filing and surgical scheduling system.
The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge/understanding of health insurance processes, procedures, and forms, including EOB’s, and experience with medical scheduling and billing and coding, especially in a surgical environment. Billing duties include: processing billing for medical services provided by the practice; verifying insurance information and claims; ensuring accuracy in coding and billing procedures; working with medical staff to resolve any billing discrepancies; maintaining patient records and confidentiality; communicating timely and professionally with insurance companies and patients; working efficiently and proactively within a fast-paced environment.
This is a hybrid position, involving a combination of in-person and remote work, on a contract basis, with the prospect of transitioning to full-time employment. If you are a dedicated and experienced professional with a demonstrated passion and performance for detailed and accurate work in the mission-critical duties of surgical scheduling and billing, and you believe that you can meet the challenges and pressures of working with a leading NYC surgeon and leading specialist in her field, we encourage you to apply.
