Position Summary:
The Perfusionist provides oversight for the perfusion program at CFVHS and provides patient care. Clinical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to performance of cardiopulmonary bypass, intra-aortic balloon pumping, autologous blood processing, perfusion lab services, electronic physiological monitoring, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, ventricular assist device, respiratory assist, and isolated limb perfusion. Evaluates techniques and/or equipment for clinical application. Acts as a resource person for physicians, anesthesiologists, and OR personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to employees or groups. Ability to speak, write and understand English. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistics. Ability to problem solve in standard or emergency situations. Is knowledgeable of age specific physiological/psychosocial/developmental/spiritual needs of patients typically served. Ability to work a minimum of eight hours per day and longer according to case/staffing requirements.
Required Education, Licenses, and Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Perfusion Technology
- CERTIFIED CLINICAL PERFUSIONIST

Required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch; talk and hear. Hearing must be normal, with or without correction. Also may occasionally lift and/or move, push or pull 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Vision must be normal with or without correction. Position may involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material.
