Position Summary
Establishes database management systems, operation standards and guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as physical database design, capacity planning, backup and recovery and disaster recovery plans and security implementation plan. Manages, maintains and upgrades all production and non-production databases. Establishes backup and recovery procedures to meet business requirements.
To obtain and maintain employment and unescorted access at DCPP, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check, psychological screen, computer-based training, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
California Minimum: $112,000
California Maximum: $179,000
Job Responsibilities
Install, upgrade, patch, backup, and recover both Oracle and SQL Server databases.
Enforce company change control, patch management, and information security standards and procedures.
Provide off-hour and weekend support as needed.
Maintain open and honest communications with clients, teammates and management.
Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance with broad scope and high complexity
Solid understanding of PDM and compliance processes and impact to client projects
Understands business requirements and applies them to complex database design and development.
Collaborates with Project Manager on complex project timelines, identifying critical path, resource estimates, risks, and dependencies.
Follows and collaborates on existing database standards and technologies.
Frequently demonstrates advanced knowledge and technical competence.
May attend client meetings as team or manager representative.
Mentor backup DBAs and management.
Participate in database architectural designs.
Resolves database problems of broad scope within procedural guidelines. May seek assistance from the supervisor or more skilled DBAs on unusual or especially controversial problems.
Qualifications
Minimum:
BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, Math, Statistics or equivalent experience
Experience in database technology, job-related, 5 years
Desired:
Oracle certification
SQL Server certification
Proficient with Linux and Windows server operating systems
Good oral and written communication skills.
Good workload and time management skills.
Ability to maintain reliability of the database systems.
Ability to adhere to company policies and compliance standards.
Experience with relational database design.
Proficient with SQL
