Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As the Controller at Woodstone, you will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, and contributing to the company's overall financial strategy. You will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance, analyzing financial reports, and collaborating closely with senior management to drive business growth.:
- Ownership of Accounting Core Processes: Take full ownership of the company's accounting core processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Leadership, Management, and Accountability (LMA): Provide strong leadership and accountability within the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Monthly Financials and Budget Variance Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, as well as report on budget variances to senior management.
- Assist with Quarterly and Annual Projections and Budget: Collaborate in the development of quarterly and annual financial projections and budgets to support the company's strategic goals.
- Internal Control Development: Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets and maintain compliance.
- Subcontractor Prequalification: Manage subcontractor prequalification processes to ensure the selection of reliable partners.
- Surety and Insurance Relationship Management: Oversee relationships with surety and insurance providers to manage risk effectively.
- Payroll Management and Processing: Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees.
- Cost Accounting and Work in Progress (WIP): Manage cost accounting and WIP analysis to optimize project profitability.
- Client Owner Billings: Assist in preparing client owner billings according to contract terms and billing schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Contractual Risk Mitigation: Mitigate contractual risks through diligent contract compliance, including certificates of insurance and lien waivers.
- Job Cost Information: Provide critical job cost information to Project Managers and collaborate on budgeting efforts.
- Project Closeout Reconciliation: Oversee the project closeout reconciliation process to ensure accurate and efficient project completion.
- Owner and Architect Requests: Utilize organizational skills to respond promptly and accurately to owner and architect requests for information.
- Building Cohesive Relationships: Foster cohesive working relationships with all individuals on assigned project teams to promote effective communication and collaboration.
- Process Improvements: Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements and assist with additional tasks as needed to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Progressive financial leadership experience in the construction industry
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in Microsoft O365 software
- Procore experience is a plus
- Viewpoint Spectrum experience is a plus
- CMiC experience is a plus
- ERP implementation experience is a plus
- Knowledge of lien waivers and pay applications preferred
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
