Job Overview:
This individual is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and management operations of the SQF, USDA HACCP plan and FDA FSMA programs to ensure product safety and integrity, for both companies manufactured products as well as co-packed finished products. This individual will work closely with the Director of Operations and Continuous Improvement and the Vice President of Operations.
Duties:
Must be well organized and able to work independently and multi-task several daily tasks.
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversees Record Keeping, monitors and records times, temperatures, weights and all required information including shipping and receiving on a timely and ongoing basis as required by the HACCP, FSMA, Quality Control and all company, customer and USDA required programs
- Will work with three Quality Assurance Process Technicians as direct reports.
- Manage and build upon existing Quality, HACCP, FSMA, and other programs in the plant to assure regulatory compliance of facility, equipment, and plant practices.
- Conduct verification of all Quality Control Techs in operation on a regularly scheduled basis as required by the HACCP, FMSA and Quality Control Plans.
- Conduct audits of vendor facilities and product ingredients.
- Drives continuous improvement in all plant Quality systems.
- Works to maintain the safety, legality and quality of each food product and the processes used in the manufacturing each food product.
- Updates and implements production and food safety aids such as guidelines, HACCP, FMSA, SQF, GMP’s, etc.
- Maintain well-organized, detailed, and legible records.
- Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the food products, processes, quality system, and safety system.
- Controls further processing or delivery of nonconforming food product in terms of Food Safety or Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Responsible for reporting food safety and quality problems to the CEO, as well as following quality and safety programs and policies themselves in order to ensure food products made here meet the highest standards possible.
- Train all employees in all the areas including but not limited to HACCP, FSMA, SQF, Sanitation, and GMP’s.
- Other duties may be assigned, and Quality Control Lead is expected to effectively manage and execute changes.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, Biology, or related field.
- Bilingual Preferred
- 1-5 years previous QA experience in a food manufacturing company required.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects, workload and direct others.
- Must possess excellent communication skills with all employees from line workers to management and customers.
- Microsoft Office proficiency a must
- ERP/MRP experience highly desired
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- HAACP Certified
Experience:
- ISO 9001: 1 year (Required)
- Quality Manager: 3 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- HACCP Certification (Required)
- Safe Quality Food Certification (Required)

Pay: $75,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
