The Elaine Clark Center which provides care for children and young adults with special needs from 6 weeks to 25 years is seeking a School Nurse that will assume responsibility for all medical needs, including medication administration, medical procedures and health monitoring for each child enrolled in the program.
Job Duties Include:
- Assists the assigned Center staff and/or student(s) in understanding and managing student health issues
- Consults with Center Administration, staff, parents, and students on health issues as appropriate
- Serves as a consultant to Center staff and volunteers on health issues
- Provides training to Center staff, as appropriate, to perform required procedures and provides staff development training on health-related topics
- Provides first aid and emergency crisis nursing care to assigned students and/or ill or injured students and others as deemed appropriate
- Works in concert and collaborates with the other nurses and staff, as deemed appropriate, to meet the health care needs and to develop and follow-up on health care plans for students
- Maintains daily record of student intervention and providing necessary reports as assigned
- Initiates, collects, and reviews healthcare plans for special education and medically fragile students
- Tracks immunizations providing required reporting for the State
- Maintains nursing office, medication and paperwork within Licensing Standards
- Recommends provisions for a healthy and safe school environment
- Attends in-services and training pertinent to job description
Required Skills and Education
- Current nursing qualifications to practice in the state of GA RN or LPN required.
- Pediatric experience (0yrs – 21yrs of age) for children with special needs.
- Preferred experience with Vents, Trachs, G-tubes, IVs
- Current CPR certification.
- Evidence of negative TB skin test or chest x-ray.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.
- Current Malpractice Insurance
