The Audit Senior is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and supervision of assigned audit engagements, from start to finish, inclusive of preplanning and wrap up activities. This responsibility includes oversight of daily activities of auditors assigned to assist during an engagement and preparation of internal audit reports reflecting the results of the work performed. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the execution of internal audits and other projects as assigned by the GA through general direction of audit management. Such work should be of high quality and delivered on time and to specification. This includes, but is not limited to, independently conducting and/or supervising all phases of the audit process (project scheduling, entrance/exit conferences, scope, design, fieldwork procedures, reporting and monitoring of recommendation implementation).
- Prepare audit report drafts that appropriately summarize the most significant control weaknesses and resulting impacts to the organization. Reports must be complete, insightful, timely, error free and concise.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate root causes of issues and work with management to recommend appropriate and cost-effective action plans to mitigate the associated risk. Follow up with management to ensure action plans are implemented by due dates.
- Assist and support external auditors and regulators and participate on project teams as assigned.
- Mentor and train a strong team of talented audit professionals.
- Evaluate the performance of associates that work on assigned audits.
- Participates in meetings and serves on committees, representing the audit function in an advisory capacity in ensuring effective risk management and internal control practices are designed and built into operational, financial, and compliance processes.
- General internal audit activities – time reporting, continuing education, professional and civic organization participation, general office admin activities.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Will be responsible for design and implementation of assigned internal audits (project scheduling, scope, design, fieldwork procedures, reporting and monitoring of recommendation implementation).
Required Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
- Intermediate Internal Controls knowledge
- Good GAAP, SOX, COSO knowledge and experience
- Conceptual Change Management skills (across an entire organization)
- Good Project Management skills
- Good Leadership and Managing a team (as it relates to running an audit)
- Intermediate Written and oral communication skills
- Good Consulting and Negotiation skills
- Intermediate professional presence and demeanor
- Good Big Picture Thinker / Critical Thinking skills
- Conceptual understanding of Data Mining/Analysis
- Understanding around the mandatory elements of the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF)
Industry and Work Experience:
- Banking industry experience highly preferred
Academic:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Accounting, Business, Finance, IT or related major preferred
- Certification required; CPA, CIA and/or CISA certification preferred
