About the Position: Technical Program Manager
This position will be integral to the daily operations of the business by directing and leading the successful execution of both commercial and/or government programs through closeout. The role will partner with key stakeholders from senior management and engineering staff to commercial/government customers while develop engineering solutions that resolve specific contracted needs (i.e., providing reliable solutions for electronic systems/obsolescence needs).
Expected Result of the Position:
To successfully Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor, and Close on all assigned programs. This entails (1) drive high quality outcomes for both external customers and internal stakeholders, (2) effectively manage program milestones and deliverables while keeping programs on plan, and (3) improve efficiencies in cost management while sustaining or improving program profitability. The program manager is accountable for the entire project scope, the project team, resources, and the project budget, including the overall success/failure of the project.
Essential Functions:
- Manage all assigned programs by achieving the highest desired outcome in terms of premier quality solutions, deliverable management, and cost management.
- Lead all efforts of planning, defining, estimating, managing, and executing on the overall Project Management Plan (PMP). This includes: Developing project scope and work breakdown structures (WBS/Gantt)
- Develop milestone schedules, performance activities, and activity durations
- Identify potential risks, perform qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, and plan risk mitigation strategies
- Identify engineering resource needs
- Prepare and present project communications pieces (technical reports)
- Manage programs within budget expectations
- Daily utilization of SmartSheets/Gantt chart planning tools
- Manage customer expectations on assigned programs while communicating results effectively and strategically on any changes to the program outcome, schedule, or expectations.
- Support the transition of SBIR/STTR Phase II efforts to commercial production by partnering with the VP of Manufacturing Operations. Effectively communicate the overall transition plan that mitigates or minimizes production gap without unfavorably impacting the client
- Support Business Development efforts Partner with and assist Business Development efforts in identifying and developing new revenue generating opportunities
- Provide in-depth research and quantitative analysis; assist in building out operational and financial proposals; assist in writing technical proposals
The Ideal Candidate:
The candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Applied Physics
- 10+ years of proven experience with Technical Program Management in the Circuit Card Assembly (CCA), FPGA Design Space
- A solid understanding of resource planning and execution
- Software experience (MSFT); Altium, SmartSheets (Gantt schedules)
- Strong team player with great organizational skills
- Able to work well with various personnel; possesses effective communication skills.
- Detailed oriented
- Ability to successfully navigate and adapt to unknowns
The preferable but not required skill sets are:
- Experience with Department of Defense/Government contracts
