The Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) has overall operational and administrative responsibility for assigned facilities. Under the guidance of the Program Leader, the QIDP will perform the following to ensure the continuity and quality of individual services:
- Acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of each person in the residence, to include health and mental status, strengths and weaknesses, likes and dislikes, and family/guardian situation.
- Implement and monitor Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
- Manage Direct Support Professional (DSP) staff activities to include participating in hiring, training, scheduling, supervising and/or oversight for daily activities, coaching and counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance evaluations.
- Assume ownership of the home(s) to ensure they are clean, organized, functional appliances, and provide a comfortable environment for the persons.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with contacts at the DC Department on Disability Services (DDS) and other regulatory agencies, and Interdisciplinary Teams.
- Monitor individuals' goals and adjust as needed to promote individuals' success, to include re-training of staff as necessary. Address programmatic changes at Interdisciplinary Team meetings, as needed.
- Ensures that active treatment, health, programmatic, personal, and quality of life needs of each individual are met through robust activity schedules, leisure activities, community integration, and day program activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate data collection by completing daily, monthly and quarterly reports for each person in case load.
- Work with consultants (i.e. fitness, nutrition, therapists) to ensure persons' needs are met.
- Financial responsibilities include managing person’s accounts, managing overtime expenses, and household expenses including grocery spending,
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, and federal and DC regulations pertaining to serving persons with IDD
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to Human Services or developmental disabilities required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a QIDP or working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Flexibility/availability to be on-call 24 hours/day for emergencies and after-hours issues, including ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise staff and lead a team to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain appropriate communication levels with all required contacts.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal departments and staff for positive outcomes.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate a polished, professional demeanor at all times.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment.
Required Licenses/Certifications/Clearances:
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification
- Ability to pass a DC Department of Health Criminal Background Check (fingerprinting).
- Must submit a current Health Certificate including TB/PPD test.
- Proof of COVID vaccination required.
- Valid driver’s license with clear driving record.
