JOB TITLE: Quality Control Technician
REPORTS TO: Quality Control Supervisor

SALARY RANGE: $24 - $28 per hour
OVERVIEW
Who we are: Pelsue is the industry leader in manufacturing worker safety products and vehicles for the telephone, utility, and construction industries. We have a large assembly shop in our Aurora facility where we build industrial safety products to protect field workers on their job sites.
Who you are: You will Ensure quality materials are received and are suitable for use. Ensure quality finished products are produced. Identify quality improvement opportunities facility wide. Assist the Quality Control team with administering the Pelsue Quality Management System (QMS) and with ISO 9001 responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform final inspection of completed components and final assembly products. Complete final inspection checklists and coordinate the resolution of any nonconformities found.

Perform in-process inspection in the fabrication area and assembly areas. Address quality issues that arise in these areas.

Perform receiving inspection of painted and plated parts from suppliers to ensure they meet specifications.
- Promote quality and adherence to the Pelsue QMS at the facility.

Assist with ISO 9001 responsibilities at the facility including writing/revising Procedures and Work Instructions.

Assist in performing root cause analysis of quality issues and the implementation of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) with the "Eight Disciplines" (8D).

Ensure calibrated equipment and tools at the facility are "in calibration".
- Assist with maintaining and updating quality metrics for the facility.

Perform Material Review Board (MRB) tasks, which include assisting with material disposition and ERP transactions.

Identify quality and productivity improvement opportunities facility-wide and work with the quality team and area supervisors to realize these opportunities.

Maintain clean and organized work areas.

Comply with all Pelsue safety & operational policies. Participate in safety initiatives & projects.
COMPETENCIES

Ability to work with all levels of personnel at the facility as well as with vendors.

Basic ability using Microsoft Office software. Familiarity with Sharepoint and Microsoft's Power Platform a plus.

Work with minimal supervision.

Effectively present information verbally and via email or written reports.

Understand and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams and work instructions.

Use manual measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, Fluke multimeters, pin gages and thread gages, etc. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and pneumatic tools.

Strong mathematical skills including the ability to use decimals, fractions, percentages, ratios and angles in practical situations.

Understand and apply basic statistics and the ability to analyze/trend data in practical situations.

Basic understanding of the ISO 9001 Standard.

Mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Visual Management concepts.

Operate material handling equipment as required. Will train if necessary.

Basic understanding or use of an ERP system is preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The primary area is on the production floor, but also may include occasional tasks outdoors throughout the year. The secondary area is a desk area within production where computer tasks are accomplished. There is typical noise on the production floor related to manufacturing equipment, fork trucks, machine operation and related activities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Regularly required to stand, walk and sit. Occasional lifting/moving of items up to 40 lbs. Regular lifting of items up to 25 lbs. 20/20 corrected vision.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position and there may be occasional overtime. Standard days and hours of work are Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
TRAVEL
Minimal, up to 5%.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, LANGUAGE, AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required, associate degree or higher in a technical field preferred. At least 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing or production facility, or at least 1 year of experience working in an inspection or Quality department.
