Location: Northwest Louisiana
Primary Responsibilities: The forester supports the budgeting, planning, and execution of forestry operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating timber value
- Working with landowners and mill partners
- Harvest planning
- Harvest supervision
This position involves a combination of both field- and office-based duties, including:
- Streamside management zone and boundary marking
- Collecting GPS field data
- Communication with mill procurement, landowners, and loggers
- Logging supervision
- Computer-based reporting and management
Job Qualifications: The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or a similar discipline.
- Two or more years of related experience is preferred, but not required.
- Outstanding safety record in all aspects of previous employment history is crucial.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office and ESRI software
Technical experience with the following is desired:
- Conducting performance assessments and applying appropriate control measures
- Timber-sales evaluation administration and inspections
- Forest measurements
