With approximately 330 students enrolled, Dominion is a classical Christian school with campuses in Oakton (K-6th) and Herndon (K-12th). We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of full-time administrative assistant at our North Campus, beginning August 2024. This position is full-time for approximately 185 work days/year (off for summer break, a week off for both Thanksgiving and Easter, and two weeks off at Christmas). Well-qualified candidates will be organized, friendly, and responsible. Because Dominion has a faith-based mission and its employees are in a role of ministry, not just teaching, the school also requires candidates to agree without reservation with the school's statement of faith, have a deep Christian faith, and be a member in regular attendance at a Christian church. Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Model for students the centrality of the Gospel in Christian living.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Attend and participate in scheduled in-service and faculty meetings as required.
- Maintain certification in Basic First Aid and CPR.
- Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergent nature and accurately document any accidents.
- Record significant incidents or experiences observed with the students and report them to the parents and/or the principal as appropriate.
- Develop a positive rapport with the parents by communicating with them when they drop off or pick up their child at the office.
- Record school attendance and keep an accurate record of tardies, early dismissals, pre-arranged absences, etc.
- Post grades, run report cards, and transcripts.
- Keep an accurate inventory of school office supplies.
- Maintain accurate databases for any arising needs.
- Maintain and keep up-to-date cumulative files for students.
- Answer and direct all incoming phone calls.
- Assist teachers with clerical matters.
- Assist with maintenance of office equipment.
- Assist with obtaining substitute teachers as needed.
- Keep copies of school forms up to date. Make copies for teachers as needed.
- Administer medicine to children when appropriate and according to directions of doctor and parents. A dispensing log will be maintained to verify administration of medicine.
- Distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Assist with administrating and monitoring fire and other warning drills.
- Maintain copies of safety reports and inspections (electrical, fire drills, etc.).
- Act as the “hub” of communication among administrators, faculty members, and parents.
- Help facilitate ordering for school’s curriculum, supplies, and other goods.
- Assist principal and other administrative staff with administrative tasks.
Attendance
- Unless an alternate arrangement has been made with the principal, the administrative assistant is required to be present from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The administrative assistant must assist with and attend occasional after school special functions.
