Hotel Ella's intimate Parlor Bar is a comfortable, modern contrast to the restored mansions columned exterior. The entire space is inky black and gray, from the ceiling and walls to the velvet banquette and brass barstools.
The Bar Capitan has a passion for all things craft, cocktails and otherwise, and should have an above-average wine background. This position reports to the Food & Beverage Manager. This role will oversee Parlor Bar operations including serving tables, prep work, stocking, making drinks, ringing guests up, setup and breakdown of the bar, maintaining par levels, filling out ordering guides. This position feels excited about service culture and enjoys talking with guests and learning about their travels.
Responsibilities
- Services multiple guests at the Parlor Bar.
- Prepares and serves cocktails, wine, coffee, and tea following proper steps of service and standards.
- Greet guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome.
- Graciously takes guests orders, questions, concerns and complaints in a polite and effective manner.
- Assist in the restocking and replenishing of bar inventory, prep, and supplies.
- Accurately handles cash and credit card payments following proper procedures.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all menu offerings, making recommendations to guests.
- Manages inventory and stocking with proper FIFO and LIFO procedures.
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, bar top, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas.
- Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction.
- Follows proper health and safety standards.
- Maintains Parlor Bar preparedness

Requirements & Experience
- 1-3+ years of hospitality experience in full-service restaurants.
- Open availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Flexibility and willingness to adapt to ongoing changes.
- Ability to inspire, motivate and develop employee relationships.
- Ability to identify problems and solve them.
- Proven track record in building high-performance teams.
- Professional and confident verbal and written communication with guests, employees and ownership.
- TABC / Beverage Certification.
- ServSafe and TiPs certified (or equivalent) preferred.
- Clear understanding of the English language (verbal and written).
