Terms of Employment
- W2 Contract, 6 months (Possible Extension)
- This position is will be mostly remote, however, there will be occasional onsite planning sessions typically once per quarter.
- Onsite Location: Chicago, Houston, or Baltimore
- Travel: Travel will be reimbursed when the resource is required to come in for the planning sessions.
- Time Zone: The project team works across many time zone, and flexibility on start and stop times of the work day is needed (preferred eastern and central time zones)
Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager to drive teamwork and project success through effective leadership and coaching. The ideal candidate will facilitate key Scrum ceremonies, ensuring smooth communication and coordination between team members, stakeholders, and leadership. They will utilize and refine performance metrics to enhance value delivery and navigate stakeholders through challenges to align with business strategy. This role also emphasizes fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team while delivering high-quality solutions.
Responsibilities
- Foster teamwork and team effectiveness as a servant leader, scrum master and coach for team(s), independently or with minimal direction.
- Facilitate daily, sprint, release, roadmap and other Scrum ceremonies necessary for delivering a high quality solution.
- Lead team(s) in establishing, using and refining of quantitative metrics of performance and value delivery, independently or with minimal direction.
- Enable effective flow of information between team, stakeholders and leadership.
- Lead collaboration of stakeholders through ambiguity or conflict to deliver business strategy.
- Contribute to innovation through continuous improvement within the team.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience.
- Experience as a scrum master (2+ years).
- First level Certified Scum Master or other relevant Agile project management certifications (CSM, SAFe or PMI-ACP).
- Proven track record of using Agile methodologies including 3+ years of experience managing large, complex projects in high-tech development environments with multiple teams.
- Knowledge and appreciation of Agile practices and principles, principally Scrum, and experience advocating these practices and principles across cross-functional organizations.
- Experience in meeting facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and transparency.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of standards and practices for IT project lifecycle management activities and deliverables.
- Experienced with Agile Work Management Tool such as Azure DevOps (preferred), Jira, etc.
- Experience building and leading new scrum teams.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree or higher in Project Management, Finance, Business, Information Systems or Computer Science.
- Experience leading teams within a SAFe Agile environment.
- Second level Scrum Master certification (PSM II, CSP).
- Experience as a business analyst (2+ years).
- Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience with assisting large-scale agile transformation and organizational change efforts.
- Proven ability to lead a team with multiple employees in remote locations.
