Reporting to the Head of Machining Operations, the Machinist II is responsible for operating manual and CNC machine tools, including 5-axis gantry mills, vertical and horizontal milling centers, horizontal and vertical turning centers, etc. in support of production and development machining. Critical thinking and collaboration are required to evaluate and resolve unique equipment and product issues in a demanding production environment.
Major Job Duties:
As a key member of Weber Metals your duties include but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate importance of the Weber Metals Safety Policy to the success of Weber Metals
- Demonstrate importance of the Weber Metals Quality Policy to the success of Weber Metals
- Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Environmental Policy
- Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the Weber Metals Business Management System
Core responsibilities include:
- Safely operate CNC Milling machines under minimal supervision
- Safely operate CNC Turning machines under minimal supervision
- Safely operate Manual Milling and Turning machines under minimal supervision
- Execute machine startup, machine & workpiece setup, setting of work/tool offsets
- Calculate optimal milling and turning feeds and speeds
- Edit basic NC programs at the machining center, including working with Fanuc / Siemens
- Diagnose tool failures and demonstrated proper tool selection
- Demonstrate basic understanding of probe cycles and functions
- Perform product inspection using metrology equipment: height gage, micrometer, etc.
- Perform daily equipment inspections, report issues, and assist in repairs of equipment
- Provide meaningful solutions to technical, logistical, processing, equipment, or manpower issues
- Assist in the development and adherence to work instructions (shop floor instructions)
- Resolve conflicts with customer requirements both internal and external
Qualifications:
- Must be able to comply with ITAR and EAR residency requirements
- Demonstrated knowledge of machining procedures and practices
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
- Proven track record of operating safe facilities.
- Fluent in English; Bi-lingual is a plus
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment operating CNC mills and lathes.
- (with) completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship
